Dear Community Members, Friends, and Supporters,

As spring blossoms around us, we’re reminded of the incredible kindness and generosity that continues to grow within our community. I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you—our members, supporters, and friends—for the unwavering support you've shown throughout the year.

Your compassion makes a difference. Because of you, we’ve been able to respond to growing needs and provide meaningful opportunities for individuals with disabilities. And yet, the need continues. We are still receiving an unprecedented number of applications for assistance, a powerful reminder that our work is far from over.

That’s why we hope you’ll join us on May 14th for our Spring Fling—a special event that supports specialized camp scholarships. These camps provide much more than just summer fun. They offer children with disabilities enrichment opportunities that are aligned with their individual goals and learning strategies—continuity that is essential to their growth and development. Unfortunately, many camps cannot offer the specialized support some children require. That’s where your support makes all the difference. Together, we help families access camps in our region that are equipped to meet their children’s needs—and we remove financial barriers that would otherwise stand in the way.

We hope to see you at Spring Fling as we celebrate what we’ve achieved together and continue to invest in a more inclusive and supportive future for all.

At The Arc of Buncombe County, we believe that every family deserves stability, dignity, and support. Recently, we had the privilege of helping a family of three who were facing eviction from their home.

Thanks to the incredible collaboration between The Arc and several other community organizations, we were able to intervene just in time. Our concern was especially heightened for the family's oldest child, who is medically fragile and lives with autism. Ensuring that this child had a safe, stable environment was at the heart of our efforts.

Through teamwork, advocacy, and the unwavering compassion of those involved, we helped secure the resources needed to keep the family housed. Today, mom and both children are doing well — safe, supported, and hopeful for the future.

This experience was a powerful reminder of why we do the work we do: because every family deserves a community that stands behind them when they need it most.
