A Word From Our Executive Director

Friends of The Arc,

Thank you very much for your ongoing and invaluable support of The Arc of Buncombe County. Now, six months after the impact of Hurricane Helene, our office has been diligently busy responding to numerous requests for assistance and help from our community. Our dedicated staff has worked incredibly hard to provide the necessary support to families as they strive to secure housing and begin the process of rebuilding their lives in the wake of this disaster. As we look to the future, our primary aim is to strengthen the support systems that will enable families to return to their routines and normalcy prior to the hurricane. I am truly looking forward to our upcoming Spring Fling event on May 14 and sincerely hope you will join us to celebrate the collective efforts we have put forth and to raise funds for much-needed summer scholarships. Please make sure to mark your calendars for this very special evening.

We are excited to announce the launch of our brand new website and social media pages (Facebook and Instagram). We encourage you to take the time to visit and follow these new digital spaces, where you can find valuable information regarding assistance, our diverse programming offerings, and important updates. Our primary goal is to effectively serve our community by providing consistent, clear, and easy-to-navigate communication channels that enhance your experience with us.

Crisis Intervention is vital to our work at The Arc of Buncombe County. Since Hurricane Helene, we have encountered many families needing financial help for housing, medical expenses, transportation, and utilities. Thanks to our donors, we have been able to assist families to stabilize their situations. With rising costs for rent and services, we are actively seeking financial resources to support those who come to us for help. We have improved our application process, making it easier and quicker with a new one-page form, ensuring we respond promptly to our clients' urgent needs. Engaging through financial support allows The Arc to serve families throughout Western North Carolina.

We are excited to help families get safe and dependable transportation. Recently, we partnered with Xpertech to fix our client's car and get them back on the road, using grant funds from The City of Asheville. Community partners help everyone thrive!
